Asheville Goes Golfing

Some of the most beautiful North Carolina golf courses are located right here, in the Asheville, NC area, amongst the Blue Ridge Mountains. Golfers of all skill levels will find a course to challenge them. Play in a wildlife refuge, in a gorgeous lakeside setting, or choose any of the other 4-star courses all with stunning mountain views. Broadmoor Golf Course 101 French Broad Lane, Fletcher 866-578-5847. Recognized as one of the best golfing values in Western North Carolina. Upscale golfing for the budget minded. Broadmoor is a pristine, nature like setting and a wildlife refuge with no housing on any holes and no out- of- bounds. Member of the National Audubon Society. Rated 4 stars by Golf Digest.

Golfing at the Grove Park 290 Macon Avenue, Asheville 828 252-2711. Opened for play in 1889 and redesigned in 1924 by master golf architect Donald Ross, the 6,700 yard, par 70 layout emphasized accuracy rather than power. This course is immaculately maintained and ranked by Golf Digest 4 stars. Each golf cart has a GPS system telling you how far your ball is from the hole, the front of the green and the back of the green.

Lake Lure Golf 112 Mountain Blvd. Lake Lure 800-260-1040. Golfer’s Paradise awaits both the seasoned player as well as the novice with two courses located within a mile of each other. For the seasoned player, Apple Valley features well guarded greens and tight fairways. Accolades include “Golf Digests’s review of this location being “one of the most beautiful mountain courses around.” Not to forget the novice player who will be well served by Bald Mountain so named for the rock –faced cliffs towering over the course.

Reems Creek Golf Club 36 Pink Fox Cove Road, Weaverville 828 645-4393. Located minutes from Asheville in a beautiful valley completely surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. This course offers a Scottish Highland look with it’s rolling hills and deep large knolls. Rated four star by Golf Digest. Secluded mountain splendor and the rustic beauty of the Western North Carolina landscape along with a great golfing experience.
